The idea behind risk-taking is this idea of facing your fears and challenging yourself to do things that may be uncomfortable. For many fifth grade students in the global section, learning to swim is something new for them. It is great to see their enthusiasm as they develop what is a true life skill-the ability to move through water without sinking. It is a skill that can save lives, and develops core fitness and coordination. So even though they are still in the beginning stages, it is wonderful to see the increase in ability and confidence.
In other news, students have been looking at the moon every night and are noticing some key elements about the moment. Ask your students to explain what they have seen and learned!
