Hello everyone, we hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday! We have had a great start to the new year, and the students have returned and are well focused and ready to go it seems. We are completing our Unit of Inquiry this week on Artifacts, and getting ready to start our new Unit next week. This week students had great discussions about what artifacts are, why they are important and how we can learn about people through them. We visualized living 1000 years in the future and taking a common item we have now, and imagining if people of the future would see these items as artifacts and place them in their museums.
In Maths, we are looking at geometry and getting to know 3D and 2D shapes and their common attributes. Our Writers Workshops are back in full swing as we are developing our editing skills as we write about topics we are experts on. In our Readers Workshops, we are learning new skills each day of what makes a good, lifelong reader. Students should be bringing their book bags home each day, as it is important that they be able to read the same book at school as home.
It is great to be back at school, and there is a lot of excitement as we begin to prepare to go to Fizh for Oman Week. Please send back completed camp forms as soon as possible!
Have a great week!
