So our students have already raced to the first pause in the school year and now have the opportunity to catch their breath. We are generally pleased with the mature way that our Secondary School students have settled in and are adjusting to the increased expectation that every new academic year brings. That said the last few weeks have been a difficult ones for the school due to staff and student illness. There seems to be a virus sweeping through Sohar with many teachers and students affected and we hope that the holiday break will help everyone recover and make a bright return.

Grade 7 and 8 have started to think about their research projects so if you are a Grade 7 or 8 parent then please discuss this with them. They need to have a project idea by the time they return.

I have enclosed a link to an informative article on the benefits of sleep relating to human memory and concentration. I intend to share this with students in the knowledge that the habits they form now very often become the ones they have as adults.

(If only my twin boys could understand it!)

I am sure that ‘most’ of you will be looking forward to seeing more of your children over the break. I wish you a relaxing holiday and Eid Mubarak if you are a Muslim.
