It has been a really productive week for the school (see Heads Blog). Students have been very active – as usual – and are committing themselves to their learning. There is a growing sense of maturity in the secondary building and we can feel this culture developing, as student become more responsible for their learning. This is really fulfilling for the teaching team and myself, as we see our students, and your children, growing up into such nice, capable young adults.

Today secondary teachers had a planning session on ‘common skills’ that students need for their studies and for life in general. These are generally referred to as Approaches to Learning by the IB. We are working together to to ensure that students master skills like note-taking, speaking and presenting, citation, graphing, concept mapping, text marking, essay writing, goal setting and research by the time they leave ABIS. No small task!
