This week we have continued to adapt our PE lessons as many students are still fasting. Activities have remained mindful of students’ energy levels, ensuring they can participate in a safe and comfortable way while still engaging with the learning objectives. We have continued using cricket as the main activity, with a strong focus on developing students’ decision-making and tactical awareness. By reducing the amount of continuous physical movement, students have been able to conserve energy while still remaining actively involved in the lesson.

Throughout the week, students have continued to build their understanding of the rules and structure of the game. As their familiarity with cricket has improved, many students have begun to demonstrate stronger thinking skills during gameplay. Some have started making more thoughtful decisions about where to hit the ball, how to position themselves when fielding, and when to attempt runs. These improvements show that students are becoming more aware of the tactical side of the game rather than simply reacting in the moment.

We have also continued discussing different scenarios during play, encouraging students to think ahead and consider the consequences of their choices. This has helped create more purposeful gameplay and greater engagement from the group. Moving forward, as students become more confident with the rules and basic structure of cricket, I will begin adapting and modifying certain rules to further challenge their thinking. These changes will encourage students to analyse situations more carefully and make increasingly effective decisions during gameplay.
