Dear Primary Families,

Today marks the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and we extend our warmest wishes to all members of our community who are observing this special time. Ramadan is a month of reflection, compassion, self-discipline, gratitude, and community — values that resonate closely with the spirit of the International Baccalaureate. The IB encourages students to develop empathy, take responsible action, reflect on their choices, and grow as principled individuals. In many ways, Ramadan embodies these same ideals, reminding us of the importance of kindness, generosity, and thoughtful reflection.

As we enter this month, please note that Ramadan school hours will begin on Sunday, with the revised schedule already shared by homeroom teachers. The school day will now finish at 1:00 pm each day.

A reminder to families to please consider signing up for our Ramadan ASA programme, which will run from 1:00–2:00 pm on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. When making decisions about ASA participation, particularly for students who are fasting, we kindly ask families to consider whether extending the school day is appropriate for your child’s wellbeing and energy levels during this time.

We also gently remind families that good sleep habits are always important, and while routines may naturally shift during Ramadan, maintaining consistent rest remains key to supporting children’s learning, focus, and overall wellbeing. We appreciate your partnership in helping students balance school responsibilities with this meaningful time of reflection.

Please also note that next Thursday will be a no-school day for students, as the holiday has been granted in celebration of Teacher’s Day.

As we begin this sacred month, we wish our community peace, reflection, and strength. May this Ramadan be filled with generosity, connection, and moments of quiet growth.

Ramadan Kareem.

Best regards,

Matthew
Primary Team Lead
