Dear Primary Families,
It has been a busy and enjoyable Oman Week, filled with trips, activities, and memorable experiences for our students.
I had the pleasure of joining Grade 5 on their trip to Muscat, where we visited a variety of places including the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House, and Snow Oman. Each visit offered rich learning opportunities and plenty of excitement. From there, I headed to Mussanah to join the Grade 4 students for their overnight stay at the Barceló Resort. Overnight trips such as these provide wonderful opportunities for students to apply a range of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, particularly self-management, while also demonstrating many Learner Profile attributes. I was very proud of how the students conducted themselves throughout the trip — they were a real credit to ABIS.
Back on campus, there has been just as much to enjoy. The week concluded with two engaging assemblies: one led by a team of archaeologists working at Sohar Fort, and the second celebrating Omani culture. A big thank you to Ms. Eiman and the Arabic team for organising such a meaningful and fitting finale to the week.
International Food Evening
As I write this, preparations are well underway for this evening’s International Food Evening. I am very much looking forward to sampling a wonderful variety of food and enjoying the way our community comes together for what is always a special event. Thank you to all those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the evening, and to everyone who has joined us to support and celebrate.
Looking Ahead – PYP Exhibition
Next week, we look forward to the Grade 6 PYP Exhibition, which will take place on Tuesday. The students and teaching team have been working exceptionally hard over the past seven weeks, and it has been impressive to see how their inquiries have developed. We are excited to see how students choose to share their learning, and we congratulate them on their commitment, effort, and achievements throughout this journey.
As a reminder, there will be no school next Thursday, as this will be a staff professional development day.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
