Dear ABIS Families,

This final week has been a wonderful way to close before our three-week Winter Break. Across both Primary and Secondary, we have seen the breadth of learning, creativity, and talent that defines our ABIS community. Highlights included our Winter Concert, the Visual Arts Exhibition, and three energetic Sports Days, beginning with KG1–Grade 1, followed by Grades 2–6, and concluding with Grades 7–12. Despite the occasional challenge from the weather, the atmosphere throughout was one of enthusiasm, teamwork, and genuine enjoyment. This morning’s whole-school assembly was a fitting way to bring everyone together and celebrate the end of the term.

I would like to sincerely thank our students, staff, and families. Behind every event sits a great deal of planning, preparation, and commitment from our teachers and support staff, and your attendance and encouragement as families make these occasions especially meaningful for our students. Events such as these not only showcase talent, but also reinforce the values of belonging, collaboration, and community that sit at the heart of our IB philosophy.

I would like to make special mention and thank our parents Saeed and Hakema Al Jabri who generously donated sand for our new sand play area located in the ECC playground. The children have been having a wonderful time!

When we return after the break, there is much to look forward to. Semester 1 reports will be issued at the end of the first week back, providing an overview of each student’s learning during the first half of the year. Parent-Teacher Conferences will follow in the second week, offering an opportunity for meaningful conversations about progress and next steps. We also look ahead to our upcoming IB Evaluation visit at the end of January, an important milestone for the school.

A very important event is coming on February 5: International Food Evening! Last year was a tremendous success and we invite parents to liaise with their countries organisers to support the provision of food. In January we will share the names of the organisers.

As we head into the holidays, I wish all families a restful and enjoyable break. To those celebrating, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. For families travelling within or beyond Oman, safe journeys, and for those staying closer to home, I hope the break provides time to rest and recharge. I would also like to offer a special farewell to any students and families who will be leaving ABIS at this time, thank you for being part of our community, and we wish you every success in your next chapter.

Thank you once again for your continued support this term. I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the second half of the year, either on Sunday, 11 January, or Monday, 12 January, pending confirmation of the possible holiday.

Warm regards,

Dominic Robeau
