This week, students have begun preparing for their upcoming sports days. Grades 5β10 have been running a range of distances on the track, helping them become more familiar with the demands of each event and how to adjust their pacing and speed accordingly. They have also been practising a variety of field events, including shot put, javelin, high jump, and long jump. Throughout these sessions, students have challenged themselves by comparing their performances with the grade-level descriptors, allowing them to clearly understand where they currently sit on the scoring continuum.
It has been especially encouraging to hear students say things like, βCan we try that event again? I was only three seconds off a level 7,β demonstrating both motivation and a desire to improve. Many students have shown increased confidence as they revisit events and refine their technique. The atmosphere around the sessions has been highly positive, with students supporting one another and celebrating personal progress. Overall, the week has highlighted strong engagement and a growing sense of ownership over their learning and performance.
