Dear Primary Families,
It’s been a busy and positive first week back after the mid-term break! I hope you all enjoyed the time off school—whether you stayed here in Sohar, explored other parts of Oman, or travelled further afield. I had a wonderful week myself and enjoyed the chance to see more of this beautiful country.
3-Way Conferences
This week included our 3-Way Conferences on Monday and Tuesday after school. These are such valuable opportunities for students to share their learning and for parents, students, and teachers to spend time together discussing goals, progress, and next steps. They also provide a chance to celebrate the many successes and achievements that have already taken place this term. Thank you to all who attended for supporting your child’s learning journey. The home–school partnership is central to what we do, and your engagement makes a real difference. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher. Seesaw is a great way to make this communication simple and direct.
KG2 Swimming Lessons
One of the highlights of my week was joining the KG2 swimming lessons on Tuesday. We often talk about the importance of the IB Learner Profile, and I saw it in action in abundance. Students who are still relatively new to swimming showed incredible courage and confidence—risk-takers as they blew bubbles, used floats, and searched for objects at the bottom of the pool. It was a joy to see such enthusiasm and perseverance from our youngest learners.
Enjoying Our Campus
While the end of the week brought dusty weather and a return to indoor recess, we made the most of the clear days earlier in the week. It was wonderful to see students outdoors at lunch again—playing, chatting, and enjoying the play areas and water park. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful campus, and seeing it filled with energy and laughter is always a highlight.
Looking Ahead
Next week promises more exciting learning experiences. Grade 6 will head to Barcelo and Mussanah for their overnight camp—a fantastic opportunity for community building ahead of their upcoming PYP Exhibition. They will also take part in the “Brainy-Bites” healthy eating workshop. Meanwhile, Grade 5 students will be visiting Sohar Port as part of their ongoing inquiries. We look forward to these and many other learning experiences as the year continues at pace!
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
Best regards,
Matthew
