Although this week was only four days long, Grade 5 managed to pack in plenty of learning and exciting activities! A highlight was our focus on the five different types of action we can take, and how these connect to our Unit of Inquiry on understanding and managing our feelings. After much discussion and voting, the class decided on a shared action: to design an interactive classroom display that allows for daily emotional check-ins. Work on this project is well underway, and we can’t wait to share the finished piece with you once it’s ready.
In literacy, students took an important step forward with their personal narratives, moving from planning into drafting their stories. In maths, students explored place value in different ways, from solving creative riddles to working with number lines and investigating how numbers change when multiplied or divided by 10, 100, and 1000.

Looking ahead, next week we will continue developing our narratives by adding emotions and body language into our writing. We’ll also complete our class action project before launching our brand-new Unit of Inquiry on Forces and Motion later in the week.
