Dear Parents,

Speaking in English every day is very important for your child’s confidence and fluency. A simple way to practice is by asking one “Question of the Day.”

How to do it:

  • Ask your child one open-ended question each day in English.

  • Encourage your child to answer in a full sentence (not just one word).

  • You can also answer the question yourself to model good sentences.

Examples of Questions:

  • “What was the best thing that happened at school today?”

  • “If you could be any animal, which one would you be and why?”

  • “What do you like to do on the weekend?”

Family Tip: Make this part of your daily routine. For example, at dinner time or before bed. Over time, your child will learn to express more ideas in English and feel more confident in speaking. Even if you use your native language, this still helps your child! Asking questions and answering in full sentences builds important skills like organizing ideas, making complete sentences, and thinking carefully. These skills transfer to English too.
