This week in Grade 5, our Unit of Inquiry on Who We Are moved from exploring emotions into finding practical ways to manage them. After trying out different mindfulness and stress-relieving techniques, students reflected on which strategies worked best for them and created their own “menus” of self-care options. They then brought these ideas to life through short drama scenarios, showing how the right strategies can turn negative thoughts and feelings into positive ones—a task they thoroughly enjoyed performing!
In writing, we began exploring personal narratives. Students experimented with short pieces, becoming familiar with the writing process and practicing how to add vivid detail and sensory description to their work.

Looking ahead, in maths we will continue deepening our understanding of place value and representing numbers. In literacy, students will draft new personal narratives, focusing on adding more depth and detail. Within our Unit of Inquiry, we will shift to exploring how developing resilience supports both personal and social growth,
Best wishes,
Mr. G & Miss Megan
