1. Our First Assessment
• This week we took our first assessment, an oral presentation exploring the work of a political cartoonist. Students worked in pairs and selected one cartoonist, whose work they then examined. They presented to the class the central themes and how they were present within the cartoonist’s work. Nainika and Ali deserve particular mention as they presented an exceptionally solid piece of work.
In addition, to the completion of our presentations, the students will have their first portfolio check in the coming days. The portfolio is an essential part of the course in which the students keep notes, reflections, and thoughts on the works we are studying.
2. Looking Ahead:
• With our first unit completed (already!), we will move onto our second unit and first literary work, studying Albert Camus’ The Outsider.
