Even though it was a short week it was filled with lots of learning! In UOI students’ made connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviours through a collaborative matching activity with a follow up discussion. We also launched ‘Self-Care Exploration Stations’ for students to explore different mindfulness practices and coping skills. These stations included: breathing & calm corner, journaling & gratitude, art relaxation (colouring and doodling), movement & stretching, positive self-talk affirmations, and mindfulness puzzling (jigsaw, wordsearch, sudoku). Students rated each station on if they enjoyed it and how helpful it was. In maths, students continued to explore reading and comparing numbers to the millions place value. Through a number of activities students became more confident in reading numbers properly and identifying the place value of a digit. They started to explore expanded form. In literacy students showed what they knew about narrative writing by creating their own story about a treasure chest. It was a nice way for students to show their imagination and creativity.

Please find more photos from the week here.

Next week, we will dive deeper into the elements of personal narratives and have some practice at these. Students will explore resilience and how this supports personal and social growth. In maths students will continue to develop their understanding of the base ten system and representation of numbers.

Best Wishes, Miss Megan & Mr. G
