It has been a shorter but full week and the students show every day that they are settling into the routines and behaving well so that they can learn. We worked on our agreements some more and took photos to help us remember what to do. We will continue with this valuable activity.
Students also shared their ideas about caring and drew pictures to show themselves and friends doing caring things- like playing or reading together, tidying up and being kind. Caring is one of the IB Learner Profile attributes and most important to foster in younger children as they move towards independence and kind action.
For our Unit, Who We Are, several children brought in photos of family or of themselves and very bravely stood in front of the class to talk about themselves and their families. Other students showed curiosity and asked questions which I was very pleased about. The students showed great presentation skills already and were comfortable to be ‘centre- stage’ so are feeling at ease already with their new class and friends.
We have continued learning and checking sounds which involved several activities not just saying and writing but games, puzzles, craft and using play dough to write our names! Students have also been making class graphs and understanding different ways to present information about ourselves. Number activities are also many and varied- sorting, matching, sequencing, writing numbers, cutting and sticking and using number trays with manipulatives.
A very productive 4 days, well done 1C!
Happy weekend everyone!
