What a fun-filled first week it has been in Grade 5! We watched old friendships rekindled and new ones begin to grow as our class community started to take shape. This week, our focus was on building a strong and supportive classroom community. Through a variety of team-building activities, students worked together, learned more about one another, and began forming the connections that will help them thrive this year.
We also spent time creating our Essential Agreements, the shared promises that will guide how we learn, play, and grow together. These agreements will help ensure that our classroom is a safe, respectful, and engaging space where everyone can do their best. We will be sharing these on Seesaw once they are finalised as well as sharing them at Parent Information Evening, 2nd September 2025 from 5pm-6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Looking ahead, we will continue strengthening our relationships while also beginning to explore our first Unit of Inquiry: Who We Are. The central idea: understanding and managing our feelings helps us build a healthy self-concept and develop resilience, which fits perfectly with our beginning-of-year activities and goal setting. We will also begin to explore place value and narrative writing.
We are off to a fantastic start, and we are excited to see all the growth, curiosity, and learning that this year will bring!
Best Wishes, Mr. G & Miss Megan
