Dear Parents,

We are excited to share that our Primary students across Grades 1 to 6 have begun exploring a new unit in Physical Education: Striking and Fielding. This unit offers students the opportunity to inquire into different games and activities that involve key skills such as striking, throwing, catching, fielding, and teamwork.

Through a concept-based approach, students will develop their physical abilities, while also building on important Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as communication, collaboration, and self-management. By engaging in fun and inclusive games like modified cricket, baseball, kickball, and other bat-and-ball activities, students are learning how to strategize, take turns, and respect roles within a team setting.

As IB learners, students are encouraged to be risk-takers, trying new skills with confidence, and reflective thinking about how they can improve their personal performance and contribute positively to group activities.

This unit also offers wonderful opportunities for students to make real-world connections—understanding how rules, roles, and strategies apply not only in games, but also in everyday social interactions and teamwork beyond the PE space.

We encourage you to speak with your child about what they are learning, and celebrate their efforts to be active, balanced, and principled learners through physical activity.
