Dear Primary Families,
This week, I spent four days in Muscat attending school promotion events with several different companies. These events, which included a number of Muscat-based schools, gave me an excellent opportunity to reflect on the programmes, facilities, and opportunities we offer our students here at ABIS.
It was a pleasure to meet and speak with representatives from other schools, many of whom were genuinely impressed by our campus and learning spaces. Alongside our highly experienced and qualified teachers, our not-for-profit status, and our commitment to the IB programmes, these aspects reminded me how fortunate we are. We have many reasons to feel proud and grateful.
While I was away, the Primary Team met on Tuesday to begin the review of our Programme of Inquiry (POI). This important process involves closely examining the units across the school to ensure a balanced and comprehensive curriculum from grade to grade. It’s always an exciting time, and I look forward to seeing how the team—working alongside our PYP Coordinator, Ms. Mary Ann—continues to enhance the POI for the coming academic year. This is a key part of our ongoing development journey.
Open Classroom Sessions
This week, you will have received details about the upcoming Open Classroom Sessions, which will begin on Sunday next week. Each class and grade level has shared a flyer outlining the schedule. Please take note of the specific dates and times. We warmly invite you to join us—these sessions are a fantastic opportunity to observe the learning and teaching taking place across our school.
School Uniform Reminder
A gentle reminder to ensure your child comes to school in the appropriate school uniform. The following guidance is taken from our Parent Handbook:
Clothing Guidelines (from the School Clothing Policy):
All students from G1 to G12 are required to wear ABIS-branded tops (shirts, blouses, T-shirts, sweaters, jackets) for all daily activities and classes, including PE. The ABIS logo must be visible at all times. These tops should be purchased directly from the school, from the available choices and colours.
Students may choose what they wear below the waist, as long as it aligns with the school’s guidelines.
Students in ECC (KG1 and KG2) may wear school-branded clothing or other age-appropriate attire.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
