Dear Primary Families,
It was lovely to welcome students back to school after the Eid holidays as we returned to our regular timetable. There were lots of smiles and happy faces as students reconnected with their friends and classmates.
As ever, it’s been a busy week both in and outside of the classroom, and it’s amazing to see how much is lined up in the coming days and weeks. The April Progress Reports are currently being finalised and will be issued at the end of next week. The following week, we look forward to Book Week and our Student-Led Conferences. Sign-up sheets for these will be shared early next week, and we hope you’ll be able to join your child(ren) as they share and celebrate their learning with you.
The highlight of the week for me was joining the Grade 6 students and team on their overnight camping trip to Mussanah. This special trip celebrates Grade 6 as they approach the end of their PYP journey. The students had a fabulous afternoon at the water park, enjoyed a tremendous buffet dinner, roasted marshmallows on the beach, had an impromptu music and singing session with improvised drums, listened to Mr. Matt’s (mildly) spooky story, and even woke up early to watch the sunrise.
It was wonderful to see how the students cooperated and supported one another, demonstrating a wide range of learner profile attributes and ATL skills. They were risk-takers, open-minded, balanced, principled, and caring—and their social skills were truly put to the test! The students were a credit to ABIS, to themselves, and to their teachers—especially Mr. Matt!
As always, thank you for your continued support. I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Matthew
