This Week in Our Classroom:
This week, our Grade 12 mathematicians delved into the foundations of mathematical logic and formal proofs. We focused on understanding and constructing direct proofs, proof by contradiction, and proof by contrapositive. Students engaged in challenging tasks that required them to justify each logical step, with an emphasis on structure, clarity, and precision. Our discussions highlighted how proofs are not just about “getting the answer” but about communicating rigorous mathematical reasoning.

Student Spotlight:
A big shoutout to all the class members for their creative approach to proving the sum of two even numbers is always even. Their explanation helped the whole class grasp the concept more deeply!

Looking Ahead:
Next week, we’ll transition into proofs involving mathematical induction. Students will learn how to apply this powerful technique to sequences and series, and begin preparing for a collaborative task involving real-world applications of inductive reasoning.
