Dear Primary Families,
Our week concluded with a lovely assembly, and I would like to acknowledge and thank the students and teachers for doing such a wonderful job of sharing the learning that has been taking place. We saw a collection of snapshots highlighting the play-based learning in KG1, a glimpse into KG2’s “Who We Are” unit, along with a performance of the Waka Waka dance, Grade 1 sharing their learning in phonics, and Grade 2 teaching us about how they build a positive classroom culture. It was great to see our youngest students being such courageous risk-takers!
Progress Reports
Today, you will have received your child’s progress report. This report is a summary of your child’s efforts and achievements during the first quarter of the school year. It is an important document that should be read carefully and shared with your child. Please celebrate your child’s accomplishments and discuss the next steps for learning and goals for future growth.
If you have any questions about how to support your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher(s). Three-way conferences involving the student, parents, and teachers will take place during the first week back after the October break. Sign-up forms for these important meetings have already been shared.
IB Global Conference 2024
I had the great fortune of attending the IB Global Conference in Budapest last weekend. It was an opportunity to connect with members of the IB community and participate in a variety of meetings and presentations. Highlights for me included a deep dive into upcoming developments in the PYP and discussions around the ethical and responsible use of AI in the classroom. I look forward to continuing these discussions here at ABIS.
I am also excited for the week ahead, as I will be hosting my brother and his wife during their visit to Oman. I am eager for them to see what a beautiful country I am fortunate enough to call home, and I know they will have a wonderful visit.
I wish you all a fantastic holiday week and look forward to welcoming students back to school on Sunday, November 3rd.
Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
