Hello everybody,
We are thankful for the great Parent Information Evening last night and we love G4 some more! Have a look at Week 2 photos.
What we did in Week 2:
- Our essential agreement is taking shape in the form of a poem with 6 stanzas!
- Emoji’s are up on the display! Your child has probably uploaded their poster on Seesaw journal.
- Math problem solving strategy: Guess & Check using commutative property in addition (2 + 3+ 4 is the same as 2+4+3)
- Learning to play games – BUMP & Number Hives
- Library Expectations & Read Aloud ‘The Way I feel’: While one group of students were oriented to the mindful use of the library and check out books, the other group listened to a read-aloud of the book ‘The Way I feel’ and learned some feeling words – disappointed, bored, frustrated, curious
- Fast facts pre-assessment – recording the results on a bar graph (this is a cyclic assessment that kids will re-take almost every month to track their progress in speed and accuracy)
What we plan to do in Week 3:
- Maths :
- Modelling and representing numbers up to 1000’s and more
- Finding 10/100 more or less
- UOI: Tuning in to ‘Who We Are’
- Language: Phrases being used in the class; Writing a narrative: Pre-assessment
How can you help:
- Help your child practise fast facts at home. Real-life experiences like shopping, cooking, banking, cooking are most preferred. However, here is the link to printable sheets and online quiz.
- Provide opportunities for making connections – Sample game
- Please send a reusable water bottle, healthy snacks and lunch, sun hat/cap, pencil case everyday.
- Speak with your student using English. Ask them what they did during the day or what they are learning about. Use open-ended questions. Sometimes you might need to draw the information out. Using the link to look through the weekly pictures might help. Incorporating this into your daily routine would have positive benefits.
