The Grade 11 TOK class is currently exploring a unit on Knowledge and Politics. This is one of two optional themes studied in this course in addition to the core theme of Knowledge and the Knower. Throughout this unit we will inquire into a variety of topics that help us to better understand the nature of political knowledge. Examples of the types of knowledge questions we might choose to explore include: what kinds of knowledge inform our political opinions and, in a democratic system, do we have an ethical obligation to be knowledgeable about political issues and events? Currently, students are creating their own knowledge questions as part of a research task on the nature of political discourse within a chosen case study. This will culminate in a 5-minute presentation to the class on Monday and Wednesday of next week.
