Dear Primary Families,
It’s been fabulous to welcome back students this week after what was, I hope, a refreshing winter break. I enjoyed the chance to spend time with my family in England, although I am very happy to be back here in sunny Sohar. It has been great to see students eager to continue their studies and excited to reconnect with their friends, teachers, and classmates.
In many grade levels and subject areas, new units of work have started, including inquiries into how technological advances in history have added to our understanding of the universe, how exploration leads to new discoveries and opportunities, and how the achievements of past civilizations influence our lives today.
Our KG2 students are having to adjust to a longer school day as they now stay in school until 3:00 pm. This longer day for them is a great stepping stone as they prepare to join Grade 1.
We are excited that next week will see students from Grade 1 upwards return to the swimming pool, and we are delighted that they will once more have the opportunity to refine and develop their swimming skills. Please ensure you send your child to school with the correct clothing, including a swimming hat, and that you are aware which day(s) of the week your child will swim.
The next round of ASAs will also begin next week, and we hope that your child has been able to select activities that excite them and that they are looking forward to perhaps trying something new.
Finally, I wish you all a wonderful, extended weekend. We will look forward to seeing the students back in school on Sunday morning.
Best regards,
Matthew
