Dear ABIS Families,

This week, MYP students were introduced to a new sport called Tchoukball. It is an invasion game that requires the application of the concepts explored over the last five weeks – these concepts are speed, agility, skill, and space. Tchoukball is played between two teams of six players on the court. The objective of the game is to score points by completing a maximum of three passes when attacking, then throwing the ball against one of the two rebounder nets at each end of the court. The opposing team or defenders must catch the ball before it hits the floor outside the forbidden zone; otherwise, a point will be awarded to the attacking team. No player is allowed in the forbidden zone. Teams can also attack in any direction within the rules. The PHE department teachers hope that Tchoukball will gain popularity among our students as an alternative sport; we also plan to organise an inter-house Tchoukball challenge at the end of this unit.
