At the end of this academic year, the DP Music students will complete their IA before they leave on summer holidays. This is one of three assessments the students will submit to the IB for their final coursework. Their IA is essentially an experimentation report: one experiment is from the perspective of a creator and the other, a performer. The students have been picking away at this for months, finalizing their ideas, conducting research, and transposing music to meet the boundaries of their experiments. Their first official draft is due on ManageBac on May 8, with the final copy due June 15. The students have been working with impressive diligence and focus to complete this monumental task. The mantra we have been working with for this first deadline is, “A draft does not need to be perfect, a draft just needs to be written.” Please encourage them to be persistent, organized, and to remember to breathe.
