Dear Families,
We are on the home stretch of this academic year. It seems hard to believe that there are only 7 instructional weeks left until summer break. Learning will continue across all subjects until the final days, and this is an important time of year for students to challenge themselves, to apply their cumulative knowledge and demonstrate their achievement and growth. We want to push students who are still working below grade level to make as much progress as possible during this final term. If you have any questions at all about your child’s learning, or would like some ideas about how to support growth at home, please speak with your child’s teachers or me. As always, remember that students should read at home every single day. Research shows that daily reading is a significant factor in academic achievement.
This week was full of great happenings. Thank you to all parents who attended our Primary Parent Coffee Morning yesterday. Our Primary counselor Ms. Maitha, supported by Ms. Magz, presented information about health and well being, and some great conversations ensued. We plan to continue these types of parent information workshops and they will be regularly scheduled in the coming academic year. In the meantime, we maintain an open door policy and welcome feedback or suggestions for future parent workshop topics.
Today, Grades 5 & 6 presented a Primary Assembly. Thank you to all who were able to attend. I’m sure you enjoyed the Star Wars theme: “May the 4th Be With You” and hopefully the Grade 6 students have piqued your interest in the upcoming Exhibition, being held next week. All ABIS community members are encouraged to drop in and engage with the students about their Exhibition projects. Students are both nervous and excited about sharing their passions and efforts with different audiences. You have received an email outlining the schedule and time slots for Community drop ins. Thank you to Mr. Matthew, Ms. Maryam, Mr. Nicholson and Ms. Sri for their hard work with the students, to all other teachers who worked as advisors, and of course for the ongoing parent support.
ABIS hosted an “Open Day” this morning, and we were pleased to show off our campus, facilities and some of the teaching and learning that happens at our school. Enrollment is happening now for the coming academic year. Please let Ms. Eiman or Ms. Zuweina know your intent about returning next year if you have not already done so. If you have friends in Sohar who are looking for a quality education for their children, encourage them to contact us and come in for a tour anytime.
Upcoming Events:
- Wednesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 11: Grade 6 Exhibition Days
- Thursday, May 18: Grades 3 & 4 Primary Assembly
Enjoy your weekend. Maeve
