Dear Families,
Thank you to all who were able to attend Student Led Conferences with their child(ren) this week. The energy on campus was fantastic! Students were so excited to take charge and share their learning first hand with you, and the engagement and pride from parents was strong. Well done to all, and thank you for participating and supporting your child in this way. Developing agency in our students is part of what makes ABIS a special place. The philosophy of the IB, and the Primary Year’s Program, supports students thinking about and directing their own learning, setting goals and working hard to achieve them, and setting action plans for next steps in the learning journey. All of this was demonstrated during the Student Led Conferences this week.
We were so proud of our Musical students this week! They performed twice: a dress rehearsal for students and teachers on Sunday afternoon, followed by a final show for the ABIS Community on Monday afternoon. They did a stellar job! All of their hard work paid off and they celebrated their accomplishment as a team with a pizza lunch on Tuesday. Thank you to all parents who supported by practicing lines, supplying costumes and being generally supportive.
We anticipate that Ramadan will begin next Thursday, of course to be confirmed by the moon. Please remember that from the first day of Ramadan until the last day, the ABIS school day will end at 2pm. Arrangements have been made for non-fasting students to eat together in the Mazoon, and daily prayers will be held for Muslim students in the Sports Hall. Otherwise, our schedules will go on as usual, with the classes in the timetable being shortened by 5 minutes each to accommodate the shorter school day.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
