Dear Families,
This week was a busy and exciting week across the ABIS campus. We had a very high percentage of parents meet with teachers for 3 Way Conferences with their children, and there were a lot of engaging conversations about learning happening all week. Thank you for sharing these experiences with your children and for showing them that we all work together as a team at ABIS. Our next communications about learning will be through report cards at the end of Semester One. As always, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers, or me, if. you have any questions about their learning.
We also had a wonderful display of Omani pride today! Students and teachers dressed to celebrate the 52nd National Day of Oman, which occurs tomorrow. There were some beautiful traditional outfits worn, as well as some very colourful red, white and green clothing and accessories. I am very happy to be living in this amazing country, and recently spent another great holiday exploring the sights and culture of Oman. Please take a moment to be grateful for our safe and inclusive community at ABIS, in Sohar and in Oman.
Please join us at our next assembly, which will be held in the Mazoon at 12:30pm on Thursday, November 24. Our younger students from grades 1-3 are hosting us this time. As always all classes and families are welcome. Please also make note of the school wide parent coffee morning at 8am on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Please join us to find out what’s happening at school and to socialize with with other parents from across the school.
Next week After School Activities will return to their normal schedule. Please keep in mind that the holiday for National Day will be on Wednesday, November 30 and Thursday, December 1. We wish you and your family an enjoyable long weekend together.
Please also keep in mind the upcoming Primary music concerts: Grades 1&2 @ 5pm on Sunday Dec. 4 and Grades 3-5 @ 6pm on Monday Dec 5. Students have been asked to wear smart, black & white clothing for these events.
On Sunday, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Samantha Erasmus to ABIS. She will be taking over the Kindergarten 1 class. She joins us from South Africa, is a specialized early childhood educator, and brings years of experience with her. Please welcome her when you see her.
Enjoy your weekend. Maeve
