Dear Families,
Welcome back to the final stretch of the school year. I hope you enjoyed the Eid break with your families and found enjoyable and relaxing ways to spend the days together.
It’s been lovely seeing more and more parent faces on our campus in the mornings and after school. The next 6 weeks will be very busy here at ABIS as we continue our learning until the end of the school year. As you are aware, students began new After School Activities this week. It’s so wonderful that we are able to provide these again, and it is great to see the students enjoying themselves outside of the classroom environment. Students have begun to eat and play indoors for the duration of lunchtime due to the hot weather. Teachers are being creative and working hard to provide some movement and play opportunities for all the students even while indoors. Students are still able to play outside during morning breaks, so please continue to send hats and appropriate running shoes for them.
We are happy to be hosting mixed grade level assemblies for students and parents over the coming weeks. Please make note of the following dates for the different grades:
- Thursday, May 19: Grades 5 & 6 Assembly
- Thursday, June 2: Grades 2, 3 & 4 Assembly
- Thursday, June 9: K1, K2, G1 Assembly
Assemblies will begin at 12:30pm sharp in the Mazoon. Parents, please arrive early in order to find yourself a seat and be ready for the 12:30pm start time. We look forward to sharing the learning with our students at these events and we hope to see many of you here.
The Grade 6 PYP Exhibition is coming up soon! This is an important event, where students independently plan and present about a topic that they are passionate about, and about what kind of action we might take to make the world a better place. This year, students have focused their passion projects around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Primary students will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition over 2 school days: May 23 & 24. Grade 6 parents are invited to attend a VIP viewing of the Exhibition on the evening of Tuesday, May 24 from 5-6:30pm. If you are a Grade 6 Parent, please mark your calendars and plan to attend this special event.
Grade 5 & 6 Primary students will be part of the upcoming Music Concert on the evening of June 13. All parents are welcome to attend. More details will be shared closer to the date.
Have a great weekend. Maeve
