In grade 11 we finished our topic with a final practical that used transition metals. We also got a chance to use a colorimeter to help us determine the concentration of something dissolved in water. Next week we’ll have a test and be ready to move on to the next topic! Here are some photos

We spent most of the week in grade 12 focusing on the practical side of organic chemistry. We made nylon from organic compounds. When the material was invented it revolutionized the production of synthetic fabrics. We also made some nice smelling ester compounds as well. These compounds are often added to candies and confections to give them intense smells. Here are some photos.
