WOWZERS!  This week was chock-a-block full of fun and adventure.  First of all, thank you for coming to the conferences!  It was great seeing and meeting some of you for the first time.  I think the kids enjoyed showing you their learning and I know that we at ABIS enjoyed seeing ya’ll back on campus.  Let’s hope we are moving closer to that being the norm.

While conferences were a big deal, the 4th grade also was busy making a community splash.  As many of you know, we have been writing letters of encouragement to students affected by Cyclone Shaheen.  This week we were able to deliver them and meet our new pen pals.  4 students were randomly drawn to represent ABIS and travel to Al-Kukba School in Suwaiq city to hand-deliver the letters and notes of encouragement.  We were greeted with one of the warmest welcomes I have ever experienced.  Involving our students in their community is an important lesson and experience.  We are hoping to do more of these initiatives in the future.  If you have any ideas or want to be involved, please share or contact me.  A big thank you to Ms. Zuweina who assisted us in making contact with a local school and driving us there.  Without her, it wouldn’t have happened.
