Dear Families,
Another busy week comes to a close at ABIS. I have seen: Grade 1 students collecting and managing data; Grade 2 students organizing Games Night for their families; Grade 3 students brainstorming adjectives to describe emotions on Jamboard; Grade 4 students collaborating on STEAM building projects; Grade 5 students using strategies such as patterns, diagrams and pictures to solve math problems, and Grade 6 students designing learning experiences to teach to their classmates. The highlight of my week was participating in a drawing lesson led by Christopher! It’s inspiring to see students getting involved in their learning and interacting with each other in such creative and interesting ways.
Of course, all teachers are also collaborating on ways to make learning engaging for our students. One example of this is the upcoming Primary Talent Show, which will provide students with a fun way to highlight their own individual talents and share them with students in other classes. We are all looking forward to the creativity and sharing. Please encourage your child to take part.
Please make note of the upcoming teacher work day on Thursday October 8th. This will be an instruction free day for students, and provides a time for teachers to connect and plan together for meaningful learning to continue across grades and specialist classes.
This week we had our first Coffee Meeting of the year, and it was lovely to start to connect some parent faces with our students. We are always happy to hear positive feedback, as well as consider suggestion about how to improve learning at ABIS. I’m looking forward to the next one, and of course you can always contact me in the meantime with any questions about your child’s learning or our programming in the Primary school.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, Maeve
