We are starting to inquire into Inventions and Innovation. We learned a little about Alexander Graham Bell and were astonished to find out that he made his first invention at the age of 12! It was interesting for us to note that he taught Helen Keller for a bit, because we had learned about her earlier in the year. By designing our own gadget, we are practicing thinking like a Inventors and Innovators.

Fatma did some thinking about problems in the world and inventions that could help to solve these problems.

By inquiring into well-known inventions, we learn that items are created to fulfill a need. Omar has done some careful thinking about this and then researched who invented the television.

This week we have shared the classic story ‘Bad Jelly the Witch’ and although this story is scary for some children, Grade 3 students tell me it wasn’t scary at all. Some students were able to catch some of Spike Milligan’s similes as they listened to the story.

Here are a few artworks students felt inspired to create.
