Thank you to the many parents who have been communicating with teachers, sharing your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions for how we all can better support the learning of our children.
Secondary teachers have had several discussions about how to support student organization and planning for each week. We are hesitant to prescribe how each student should spend every moment during the week; we recognize that each family is in a different situation and will need to plan their week to meet their own family’s needs. However, to help with your child’s weekly planning, the summary assignment email will now include the approximate amount of time that each subject’s tasks should take.
If your child is taking significantly more time than expected, please communicate with me, the individual teacher, or your grade level liaison so we can offer support and better align expectations.
I’m posting a few pictures from Seesaw, an app that students are using to communicate with their teachers through videos and responses to assignments. Seesaw is a powerful tool due to its simplicity. With minimum exposure, students have learned to quickly document their thinking and share it in a meaningful way.
