Thank you to those parents who attended the Oman Week Information Evening. There are lots of exciting activities planned and students look forward to creating new memories and solidifying friendships during this time. Oman Week is part of the curriculum at ABIS and as such all students are expected to attend. Non-attendance will be counted as an unexcused absence. While I know it can be difficult to let your children take part in new and challenging events, our yearbook shows that Oman Week is the most memorable event at ABIS. Please try to support the school by allowing your child to participate in this unique opportunity.
Swimming
There have been lots of questions and concerns around swimming in the past few days. Parents are reminded that they should inform the classroom teacher and the PE teacher if their child is not swimming and must indicate the reason why. Swimming and PE are part of the curriculum at ABIS and both are important for physical and mental health, not to mention that leaning to swim can save lives. If children are not swimming in the primary years they will be sent to the poolside with something to do, or will be kept in class should the teacher need them to catch up on work or for assessments. Please know that the pools are heated, often to more than 30 degrees to ensure that students do not get too cold. If you are concerned about the time after swimming please send along extra warm items of clothing and teach your child how to dry their hair as best they can.
ASA round 2
The second round of ASA’s begin on Sunday. You should have received notification for the enrollment of your child as soon as you signed up. We realize there are waiting lists for the more popular activities but this cannot be helped. If, however, you would like to help out or offer an ASA you are always welcome. Please be reminded that ASA’s finish at 4.20 and there are no busses running at this time. Students should be collected by 4.30pm at the latest. Any student who is late to be collected more than three times will no longer be able to participate in the activity.
