Different learning environments allow the children to develop their communication, exploration and imaginative skills. We use these experiences in our writing, reading and Maths lessons. The students are becoming more familiar with our learning zones and as a result we are seeing the students integrating across both KG3 classes, communicating with a variety of friends.
In Writing, we have been learning how to express emotions and discovering how kindness can make us feel. We read the story of the rainbow fish. The rainbow fish has the gift of many beautiful scales. He won’t share the scales and is unkind so the other fish won’t play with him. This made him lonely. After time, he shares a shiny scale with another fish. He realizes that sharing can make you feel wonderful and loved.
In Maths, we have been exploring numbers; writing numerals, subitising numbers and forming groups using one to one counting skills. We have been identifying numbers through the use of bingo, a game you may like to play with your child at home.
During our reading groups we have been exploring stories. We continue to use our reading strategy of reading the picture and we are now building the skill of using our finger to point to each word as we read it. We have been word detectives and are learning about the difference between what a letter is and a word. We are also counting the lessons within words. Many of the children are now recognising the golden words within the stories that we read.
Another great week!
