Our 7/8 language acquisition class reacquainted ourselves with verbs, nouns and subject to see how they make complete sentences. Also, we learned to recognize comma splice in our writing and correct those. All this, while continuing to look at cultures of different countries in our unit on ” Our world is a colorful place”.

In grade 9 we launched into an in-depth study of “War Photographer” by Carol Ann Duffy and students were encouraged to write analysis for each stanza.

Grade 11 continued their study on evolution of English language. They presented, in a creative manner, the status that English enjoys in Nigeria, S. Korea and India. Also, we looked at the present evolution of language into emojis. It was interesting to decipher entire tweets made up of emojis which led to a discussion of whether or not emojis will become the future language of communication.
