What a brilliant week for ‘half’ of the Secondary School! The Oman week has been absolutely superb and ‘equal to or better than’ last year, where the average trip rating was nearly 9 out of 10. Though a little cold at night, the weather has been very pleasant for most activities. Unfortunately, the water was too cool in Musannah for Grade 8 to complete their diving course. This won’t be a problem as the dive school have agreed to complete the course with students when it gets warmer, so they have something to look forward to. They have all passed their diving theory exam, so they have made a great start. Good to have a plan B.
The Grade 7’s have had an amazing week on their safari, hiking and riding the camels, as well as camping. Last night they were picked up from their camp location and went to the Crowne Plaza for refreshments, a shower, and to use their swimming pool. Afterwards they went back to their camp and today they were supposedly in the ‘Lost Sands of Buraimi’. Let’s hope they found them! Not to be outdone Grade 9 have been up Jebel Sham doing abseiling, climbing, hiking and canyoning, as well as observing the stars with a telescope.
The other half of the school did not have such a great week! Grade 10 and 12 had their mock exams and Grade 11 had a week filled with lessons, study, university counselling, Extended Essay preparation and CAS experiences. I think the CAS experience was the most fun as they worked with younger students and participated in many fun learning activities. Though this week is not as exciting as the other trip, older students do get to participate in MUN, the Maher trip to India, as well as the French Study week and the ski trip so don’t feel too sorry for them.
We aim to get Semester one school reports out on Monday if we can, certainly no later than Tuesday. Please read through the report guidance carefully. Grade 10 and 12 mock exam results will be shared separately.
Please note that the Swim Gala has been moved forward to Wednesday, February 22nd as we will be starting work on the swimming pool expansion shortly afterwards. We will share a letter very shortly about some very exciting school developments!
