George’s Marvelous Medicine must have struck a chord with the children. This is a book by the author Roald Dahl that was read to class over a period of a couple of weeks. In it nine year old George, the main character, creates his own ‘marvelous medicine’ to get back at his mean grandma. Some very interesting ingredients make up this medicine. A number of our children, on their own doing, decided to make their own medicine and share their experiences making (and smelling) them with their peers. In math we have moved onto multiplying and dividing bigger numbers. Our unit of inquiry is progressing well. We are currently exploring puppetry as a tradition in a number of South East Asian countries.
