…we’re learning here. Grade 4 has been busy organizing our classroom library. While this may have created an enormous, chaotic mess, it has also allowed students to apply their thinking skills to categorize text types and genres.
Grade 4 was tasked to place the texts in our classroom library in genre boxes in order to help them select their own reading materials. In younger grades, this involved task is usually reserved for the classroom teacher, but Grade 4 students are more than capable of thinking about and selecting a genre for a text.
I am looking forward to seeing how the students explore and use the classroom library in the future.
