We began our procedural writing in a slightly unconventional yet effective manner. First we built a paper airplane by ourselves. Then we worked with a partner who took on the role of the teacher. The teacher then taught the student how to build an airplane. Sounds simple? There was a catch. Please spend a few minutes talking to your child about procedural writing and it’s purpose. Remember to ask them about how they gave each other instructions on how to brush teeth as well.
