We have been informed that there are numerous cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in Sohar. A number of students from neighboring schools have been diagnosed with the disease, which is not normally serious or life threatening, however it is worthy of you attention as it is highly contagious. At present it has not been diagnosed in ABIS but we feel it is necessary to inform you so that you can monitor your child for symptoms.

if you believe that you child has any of these symptoms associated with the disease such as fever or a nasty rash or blisters then we ask you to keep your child at home for a few days and seek medical advice. This should prevent the spread of the disease through the school and help your child recover.

It is important to note that Hand Foot and Mouth Disease is not related to Foot and Mouth Disease which occurs mainly in animals.

Thank you very much for your support. Please contact the school if you have any concerns.
