Niels Helge Von Koch was a Swedish mathematician born on January 25, 1870, who gave his name to the Koch Snowflake, a famous fractal, which is one of the earliest fractal curves to be identified and described. Fractal geometry is one of the foundations of Chaos Theory which was only identified as a new branch of mathematics in the latter half of the 20th century.
