Grade four students started wondering about and wandering through their ENERGY unit just prior to the winter break. Saturday January 5 has seen them enter their energy unit with … ah…energy! They are starting with the fundamental question – WHAT IS ENERGY? A visit outdoors to observe movement and to consider where it comes from and what causes it has led to the following thoughts: movement is energy, it requires some sort of outside influence to get it started, and even when things look still, they might be using energy for such things as growth.
