It was dedicated to the music style of the Plena of Puerto Rico. The Plena is a highly rhythmic song which is thought to have originated in the Southern coastal city of Ponce. It has a strong Afro-Caribbean flavor and is rooted in the everyday life of the working class. Anyone who can keep a beat is welcome to join in and participate.
