Avi&#8217;s documentary novel presents various &#8216;artifacts&#8217; that allow the reader to see multiple perspectives on the events caused by Philip Malloy&#8217;s immaturity and pride. The situation becomes particularly messy when a politician get the media involved. Several texts within the text allow the reader to see how language is manipulated to present a certain slant on an event and sway the audience. We have looked at how a few well placed words can demonize or redeem a character.
