They practiced <strong><span role=\"button\" data-url=\"ca:\/\/s?q=Explain_break_apart_strategy_grade_3\">break\u2011apart addition<\/span><\/strong> and used <strong><span role=\"button\" data-url=\"ca:\/\/s?q=Teach_number_line_addition_grade_3\">number lines<\/span><\/strong> to visualize their thinking and make efficient jumps when adding larger numbers. Students also completed both <strong>pre\u2011 and post\u2011assessments<\/strong> for our current math unit, giving us valuable insight into their growth and next steps<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In Literacy, students added <strong>text features<\/strong> to enhance their writing and began our <strong>at\u2011home reading program<\/strong>, building strong reading habits beyond the classroom. They explored how to identify the <strong>main idea<\/strong> in paragraphs, started practicing their <strong>new phonics words<\/strong>, and wrapped up our unit by engaging with a variety of <strong>topic books<\/strong> connected to our learning.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Unit of Inquiry (UOI): Sharing the Planet<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In UOI, students spent time reflecting on their progress and setting <strong>personal learning goals<\/strong> for the next part of the year. We supported them in identifying what they want to improve and how they plan to achieve it.<\/p>\n<p>We also launched the <strong>provocation<\/strong> for our new unit, <em>Sharing the Planet<\/em>. Students engaged in a See\u2013Think\u2013Wonder routine after observing a backpack that had been packed in only ten minutes.
