Our Grade 11 Biology students stepped into the laboratory this week to bring their first unit on biomolecules to life. Putting theory into practice, students conducted qualitative biochemical tests to identify starch, glucose, proteins, and lipids across everyday food substances. Observing dramatic color changes and precipitate formations, they built practical laboratory competencies that form the cornerstone of future experimental work in the IB Diploma Programme. Beyond the test tubes and reagents, what truly stood out was their exemplary communication and teamwork. Working in pairs and small groups, students analyzed results, refined techniques, and debated findings with genuine scientific curiosity. These foundational inquiry skills reflect the core spirit of the IB learner profile thinking critically and collaborating purposefully.<\/p>\n
